Kelly Corrigan talks here about friendship, and how it is the silver lining of life. Yep, I had a tear in my eye the first time I watched it. How about you?

I’ve just finished listening to Lift by her on AudioBook, which was a very touching despite being a very personal letter to her two children. I’ve added The Middle Place to my reading list for the book a week challenge.

Oh, speaking of the book a week challenge. I am on to Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. Ooh, it’s a spooky book and it’s sucking me in to the pages. Like a train wreck, I can’t look away.

Tori Walker Open Book GoodReads Book a Week Challenge

They say one of the best ways to learn the craft of writing is to Read, Read, Read. So, I’m challenging myself to read a novel a week.

Tonight I joined the 50 Books a Year group on Goodreads.  This is by far the most reading than I have done since university, well, fiction reading anyway.

At some point this week I’ll post my list for the first 10 weeks.  But for now…

The first book on my list is Diary by Chuck Palahniuk.  Let me start by saying that I would normally skip Chuck Palahniuk. I’m not into graphically grotesque, and Palahniuk doesn’t know how to write anything else.  I put the book down after about 20 pages, at the ‘brooch pin through the nipple’ scene, and figured it would stay on the shelf indefinitely…but then I decided to start this challenge, and part of the challenge is to open my world a bit, so I’m giving Diary another chance.

I’m about halfway through, so I’ll let you how it goes

Hi, I'm Tori, and welcome to my open book. I'm a freelance writer and web designer. This site is my scratch pad for thoughts and ideas, experiences and inspiration. Go ahead, eavesdrop on my life a little bit, you know you want to...
