Feel-Good Wednesday…er Thursday: An inspirational blogging story

Categories: Feel-Good Wednesday

Apparently I missed Feel-Good Wednesday yesterday.  Well, I didn’t miss the Feel-Good part – I actually had a lovely and busy day, which is probably why I forgot to post during the day.  Then I spent the evening sipping wine and listening to Madeleine Peyroux with my hubby, which is why I didn’t post in the evening.  So, this week it will be Feel-Good Thursday.

This story may not be exciting to anyone but me.  But, it may help my lovely readers (who are mostly family and friends at this point) understand what is possible when you start a blog and really give it your all.  And, it may help you to understand what I’m trying to achieve with this blog…or at least, what I have distant hopes for…ok, so it’s a pipe-dream.  Anyway, please read on.

I’ve mentioned Ree Drummond (aka Pioneer Woman) before in my Photography Round-up.  She is a homeschoolin’ housewife, lives on a cattle ranch, takes beautiful pictures and makes beautiful food.  And she blogs about it.  She has a writing style like no other, she simply oozes southern charm, so when you visit her blog it’s like cozying up in a quilt with a cup of coffee.  As a result, she has an extremely big web-following and has already published a cookbook.

Anyway, she used to be a city girl, until she met her ‘Marlboro Man‘, fell in love, and moved to a cattle ranch.  For quite some time now, she has been writing a self-described ‘harlequin novel meets Green Acres’ blook (that’s blog book) called Black Heels to Tractor Wheels.

Well, this book will be finished and published in book form next Valentine’s day.  Aaaaannnnddd.  Columbia pictures just bought the movie rights.  Aaaaaanndd.  Reese Witherspoon is being considered for the lead character.  (Have you ever played that ‘If there was a movie about the story of my life, what actor would play me’ game?  I have, one of the actors on my list?  You guessed right, Reese Witherspoon.)

(This is similar to blogger Julie Powell‘s story being combined with Julia Child’s ‘My Life in France’ and adapted for screen as ‘Julie and Julia‘.)

It is inspirational for me to see a blogger, a homeschoolin’ housewife at that (I say this with utmost respect), who has achieved so much success from her blog because she worked hard at it.   But I also know that I haven’t been putting all my heart into this blog yet.  I have big plans, including a redesign and format change, which will be revealed soon.  But, this story has given me a much needed boost.

Anyway, if you’ve wondered why I’m trying out this blog thing, now you know.

  1. I remember how the excited the movie “Julie” got when someone posted a comment on her blog, so here you go — my contribution to feel good Thursday. You’re doing a great job on the blog so far, so keep going! If Reese has enough roles, she may win the (soon to be) coveted “Best Actress in a Blog Movie” Oscar …

  2. Thanks for your support, you are awesome. If only you were my blog neighbor (sort of like my farmville neighbor!) read: when are you starting yours and getting a movie deal of your own? 😉

  3. Who would watch a movie about a guy who thinks life is one long pie-eating contest? Wait a second … I would!
